CRÉ Wines are a couple of buddies in the Yarra valley experimenting with growing and stomping raisins de cuve, striving to make nectarous grog with minimal interference. We enjoy midnight biscuits, afternoon chips and froth tops and banging tunes.
We’re going cray cray for CRÉ Wines from the Australian Fin Wines team, different vineyards, same attitude but aiming at a slightly different style.
The grapes are sourced from the farmed vineyards of Handpicked Wines, in Highbow Hill and Box Grove vineyards on the other side of Dixons Creek, Yarra Valley opposite to Fin Wines.
They also follow the same sustainable principles as Fin, practising organic viticulture and are in the process of getting certification through the ACO. The vines are nurtured in grey loam soils over clay and mudstone. The grapes are then hand harvested and picked to ensure they have nice acidity for ageing, but not compromising on all the lush fruit flavour.
Founders Jonjo & Oliver have a love of joking around, lo-fi wine making & experimenting BUT are absolutely serious about quality flavour & wine.
Expect from CRÉ a vibrancy of flavour coupled with intensity and a structure that allows these wines to develop beautifully in the cellar. With the reputation of Fin Wines preceding them, and knowledge to boot, these guys are definitely wine makers to watch.
And of course as ever with these guys, the labels are absolutely beautiful with art work from local artist @shay_azzari adding the complimentary touch to this fine liquid.
