From rugged, ancient hills comes modern and elegant award winning wine.
Created in the foothills of the French Pyrenees.
Res Fortes produce huge full flavoured wines with structure and elegance from the rugged ancient foothills of the Pyrenees in Roussillon. They are uncompromising wines, a mix of organic and very old vines, made from the hand of cult wine maker Moritz Bak.
Over in Roussillon in the foothills of the Pyrenees, the terrain is not for the faint-hearted. At Res Fortes they select the grape varietals that thrive in this challenging environment to produce award-winning wine. Res Fortes brings to life the vision of one man who has always relished scaling high places, because that is where the greatest rewards are to be found.
Inspired by childhood summers with his wine-loving grandfather in the South of France, Moritz Bak’s fascination with the world of wine began at an early age.
Devoting himself to the study of wine and winemaking, Moritz worked at some of the world’s greatest vineyards across the planet and when he was ready, returned to the south of France armed with both knowledge and a vision. Having carefully selected and nurtured his vines, he produced his first vintage in 2014. Acclaim and awards for this progressive winery soon followed.
This passionate mountaineer’s winery Res Fortes, is named in tribute to his own love for a hard climb and the fortitude of those like him who have followed in the footsteps of the ancient Romans who scaled and civilised this highland corner of southern France. Steeped in history but with an eye on modernity
As well as the wines themselves, Res Fortes’ elegant bottles and label design prove that the most modern and sophisticated drinking experience can grow from the toughest terrain.
